Imagine That, A Honda Lease That Doesn't Suck: Accord Sport for $261/Month, $0 Down (Expired)
What a difference a year makes.
When Honda released the current Accord a little over a year ago, it leased horribly — pricier than its luxury cousin Acura TLX, in fact. Buoyed by positive reviews, Honda seemed confident that their new midsize sedan could sell on its merits alone, and that it wouldn’t need much help in the way of lease support.
Fast forward to 2019, and Honda has piled on lease cash for remaining 2018 Accords, while lowering the money factor (MF) to .00072 (equivalent to 1.73% APR). This means you can now lease an Accord — a vehicle that usually sells at a premium compared to its less, shall we say, polished rivals — for a very reasonable amount.
Here’s everything you need to know about leasing a Honda Accord this month.
Go With The 2018, The Rates Are Better
The 2018 Accord is identical to the 2019 model, save for the deletion of the Touring 1.5T trim, so you’re better off going with the 2018, which has better lease rates and incentives. Even though we’re into the new year, expect to find a decent inventory of 2018s remaining.
Below is the current 36-month lease program for 2018 Accord through Honda Financial Services (HFS), valid through February 28, 2019, and assuming excellent credit.
The posted 36-month residual values assume 12,000 miles per year. Subtract 2% from the residual for 15,000 miles per year. (Confused about terminology? Read this!)
In addition to the lease cash (which is untaxed and often included in the selling price of the vehicle already), Honda is offering three targeted incentives:
$750 Loyalty Program (for current HFS lessees with lease maturities between December 1, 2018 through May 31, 2019)
$500 College Graduate Bonus
$500 Military Appreciation Offer
Estimate Your Own Lease
Use Leasehackr Calculator to customize your own inputs, such as the MSRP, selling price, and sales tax rate. Note that every dealer sets its own price, and that taxes and fees vary depending on location.
Click here to see a sample deal of a 2018 Honda Accord Sport ($26,675 MSRP). It assumes a selling price of $24,000, which is about $500 below the current average in Southern California, before lease cash.
The sample deal further assumes California registration fees and taxes (Los Angeles County), $0 down payment, and 12,000 miles per year. It all translates to $261 per month ($286 per month after tax) and $1,345 in drive-offs.
