In the automotive industry, premium is perhaps the most overused word, second only to dynamic. However, in the case of Mazda, we think premium is actually a justifiable descriptor of their latest vehicles: nicer than mainstream, yet not quite full-on luxury.

Take the CX-5 for instance. It starts at roughly the same price as a run-of-the-mill Toyota RAV4, but thanks to its elegant styling and interior details, a well-optioned CX-5 can give entry-level luxury SUVs like BMW X1 or Lexus NX a run for their money. The CX-5 is a compelling premium compact SUV, and it can be a great lease as well.

Mazda’s official “special offer” for a base CX-5 Sport is $237 per month with $2,999 due at signing, plus taxes, license/registration, and fees, for a 10,000 mile per year lease. This equates to an average monthly cost of $314 per month before fees and taxes — not terrible, but not great:

You can beat the official offer by learning to negotiate a lease deal on your own (Leasing 101), or by going with the off-the-shelf deals posted by brokers on the Leasehackr Marketplace.

Here are some Marketplace deals for a 2021 Mazda CX-5 Sport. All of them easily beat the official Mazda offer:

California: $216 per month, $1,999 due-at-signing (includes license/registration and document fees) + sales tax and security deposit

Midwest (AWD): $269 per month, $269 due-at-signing + license/registration, sales tax, and security deposit

Northeast (AWD): $204 per month, $1,999 due at signing (includes license/registration and document fees) + sales tax and security deposit ($750 higher without Mazda Loyalty)

Florida: $199 per month, $1,999 due-at-signing (includes license/registration and document fees) + sales tax and security deposit

Deals valid through January 31, 2021.
