Leasehackrs Flipping RAM 1500 TRX Trucks
The 2022 RAM 1500 TRX is a supercharged 702 horsepower supertruck.
Starting at over $70,000, it’s extremely expensive, yet you’ll find quite a few Leasehackrs ordering one. How could that be?
Apparently bored with hacking new leases (to be fair, new car deals are in short supply, due to the chip shortage), these enthusiasts are ordering RAM TRX trucks with the intention of flipping them for a profit or driving one for “free” for several months.
This gamble hinges on a unique arbitrage opportunity: some dealers are allowing customers to order a RAM TRX at MSRP, or a slight discount, while the secondhand market value of these trucks is actually above MSRP.
Select dealers are willing to sell TRXs without a markup because customer-ordered vehicles do not count against their inventory allocation, and these extra units only help their bottomline.
While we don’t recommend speculating on vehicles — risk is involved — this example goes to show the benefits of planning ahead, ordering a vehicle, and waiting your turn. The immediate gratification of getting a vehicle off-the-lot can cost you thousands of dollars above MSRP.
