All-New Mercedes CLA EV Already Discounted by $11,000, Lease Rivals Tesla
Discounts on the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ allow price parity with the sales leader Tesla Model 3 for both lease and purchase.
New for 2026, the Mercedes-Benz CLA with EQ Technology is a compact electric sedan with impressive range, ultra-fast charging, and advanced driver assistance capabilities, all wrapped in sleek sheetmetal that evokes the original coupe-inspired CLA.
With a starting MSRP of $47,250, the new CLA is reasonably priced for a Mercedes. However, it comes in roughly $10,000 higher than the segment best-seller, the Tesla Model 3, which starts at $36,990 before destination fee in standard Rear-Wheel Drive guise.
To stay competitive, Mercedes is supporting the electric CLA with generous dealer incentives, allowing actual transaction prices of the CLA to fall in line with the Model 3. Such discounts are unusual for a newly-released vehicle, but it seems Mercedes is willing to spend big on incentives to show leadership in EVs and capture market share from Tesla.
Lease from $456/month, $0 Down
On Leasehackr, there are currently two Pre-Negotiated Deals for the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ with EQ Technology, one in Northern California and one in Southern California, both reflecting over $11,000 in dealer discounts.
Take the Northern California deal, for example.
While the vehicle has an MSRP of $51,345, Leasehackr has pre-negotiated a selling price of $38,869 — on par with the price of a standard Tesla Model 3. As for the other variables, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services has set the 36-month lease residual value at 54% of MSRP ($27,726), with a money factor of .00220 (equivalent to 5.28% APR).
The resulting monthly payment is $456 before tax. This deal is based on $0 down payment, with only the first month’s payment, acquisition fee, and taxes and government fees due at signing (estimated total of $2,751 using a Northern California ZIP code). This is based on a 7,500 mile per year lease; add $12 per month for 10,000 miles per year. Additional mileage options are available.
This exact deal expires March 31, 2026, or until sold out, and requires top-tier credit.
Compared to a Tesla Lease
In terms of lease cost, this 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ from Leasehackr Pre-Negotiated Deals slots neatly between the standard Rear-Wheel Drive and Premium Rear-Wheel Drive versions of the Tesla Model 3.
Normalizing for the same 10,000 miles per year, the same California address for tax and registration purposes, and the same $2,751 due at signing amount, the monthly payments break down as follows:
Tesla Model 3, standard Rear-Wheel Drive: $401/mo + tax
Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ with EQ Technology: $468/mo + tax
Tesla Model 3, Premium Rear-Wheel Drive: $523/mo + tax
With faster charging and greater range than either Model 3 variant, the new CLA presents a compelling option for drivers who value a superior long-distance road trip vehicle at a comparable cost to the Tesla.
A Thoroughly Advanced Mercedes
The new CLA with EQ Technology is an incredibly important vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, debuting a host of firsts for the brand.
Riding on the new Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA), the CLA debuts the brand’s first 800-volt electrical system. The result is a real charging monster: it can add a claimed 100 miles of range in just five minutes of DC fast charging, with a peak rate of 320 kW. Meanwhile, a two-speed transmission and broader efficiency gains enable 374 miles of EPA range in the CLA 250+, second among sedans only to the larger and more expensive Lucid Air.
Equally significant, Mercedes considers the CLA its first software-defined vehicle. Developed in partnership with NVIDIA, the CLA will gain point-to-point Level 2 automated driving capabilities via over-the-air updates later this year, at a fixed cost or monthly fee, supported by a 27-sensor hardware suite.
Even with these engineering advancements, the electric CLA costs about the same as a Tesla Model 3 to lease or buy, after accounting for the $11,000 in discounts. For now, it seems the hardest part for Mercedes is getting the word out—and convincing Tesla devotees to give the new CLA sedan a chance.
