THE DEAL!
The deal in question is for the 2021 Toyota Prius Prime, a super efficient plug-in hybrid that averages a whopping 54 miles per gallon (EPA) on gasoline. Additionally, you can drive the Prius Prime purely on electricity for 25 miles when fully charged, enough for many folks to commute gas-free.
This Pre-Negotiated Deal is available for two trim levels, XLE and Limited, for an MSRP of about $30,995 and $34,995, respectively. Exact MSRP may vary slightly based on minor equipment differences.
The deal is simple: $189 per month with $0 down payment for the XLE, and $237 per month with $0 down payment for the Limited. First month's payment, tax, registration, $650 bank fee, and $75 document fee are due at signing. Below are sample deal sheets for a New York resident.
This deal includes the New York State plug-in vehicle rebate, which is applied at the point of sale. Add $31 per month if you do not have a New York driver’s license and vehicle registration address.
For those who qualify, Toyota offers an additional $500 rebate for recent college grads and those affiliated with the U.S. Military and U.S. Olympics. Current Toyota Sienna, Tundra and Tacoma lessees who return their lease qualify for a $1,000 loyalty offer. These targeted incentives have not been factored above.

DEAL EVALUATION
Selling Price: The selling price on this Prius Prime XLE is 3.4% below MSRP pre-incentive, or 16.3% below MSRP with Toyota incentives applied.
At such a large discount, the Pre-Negotiated Deal dealer is selling the vehicle below cost (about $400 below invoice) in the hopes of meeting a volume bonus this month.
Money Factor: We’ve made sure that the money factor is the same as the buy rate set by Toyota Financial Services: .00016 (0.4% APR). There is no markup. Some dealers advertise a bigger discount off MSRP, but make up for it with inflated finance charges. This is called “back-end” profit, which can end up costing you more.
Document Fee: The document fee is capped at $75 in New York. The dealer is not making any additional back-end profit by charging a high document fee, unlike the case with many dealers in other states.

THE FINE PRINT
Vehicle must be picked-up at dealer(s) located within the New York City metropolitan area. Deal is valid through March 31, 2021, or until vehicles are sold.
Pre-Negotiated Deal offer is available upon approved credit only. Amount due at signing and monthly payment may vary from the sample New York deal sheets shown above depending on vehicle registration location, due to variations in local sales tax rate, registration fee, and tax structure.
At lease end, lessee is responsible for disposition fee of $350 to Toyota Financial Services, $0.15/mile for miles driven in excess of the allotted mileage, and any excessive wear and tear. Excess wear and tear protection may be purchased at additional cost.
Exact vehicle color and configuration are subject to availability. The seller will try its best to assign the customer a car that matches the desired color. If not possible, the customer will be notified and may choose to select another color or forfeit the deal reservation.
Comparison between Pre-Negotiated Deal offer and official Toyota lease offer is based on normalizing the official March 2021 Toyota Greater NY lease offer to account for differences in vehicle MSRP ($30,995 versus $29,474, respectively) and customer down payment ($0 versus $2,870). Official Toyota lease offer requires $505 dealer contribution, which is equivalent to a discount of 1.7% off MSRP.
