Luxury SUVs Compared: 2027 Lucid Gravity vs. 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric
Created by Leasehackr for Lucid Motors
Lucid and Porsche have been circling each other for years, their electric sedans swapping records at the Nürburgring with the intensity of a proper rivalry. Now both companies have brought that same energy to a new battleground: the high-performance luxury SUV.
Porsche's new Cayenne Electric arrives in showrooms this summer. The Lucid Gravity SUV, which launched in late 2024 and claimed the 2026 World Luxury Car of the Year, is ready to defend its position. We put the 2027 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring (from $98,900¹) against the 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric (from $109,000) to find out which luxury SUV comes out on top.
Sizing Up the Rivals
On paper these two SUVs look remarkably similar — the same approximately 119-inch wheelbase, overall length within two inches of each other, and similar width and height. Yet as a testament to Lucid’s dedication to optimize every millimeter, the Gravity manages to be far more spacious inside than the Cayenne Electric.
The result: 120 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume versus 56 in the Cayenne Electric, a frunk of 8.1 cubic feet versus 3.2, and available seating for seven versus five. Remarkably compact dual electric motors and a cleverly packaged, energy-dense battery enable the Gravity to have the interior room of a full-size SUV within the footprint of a midsize. Far from academic, the roominess of the Gravity conveys real-world benefit — the difference between fitting ski gear for the whole family or leaving someone behind.
Interior Design
Relaxed, airy, and light-filled, the 2027 Lucid Gravity Grand Touring’s cabin is inspired by the landscape of California with four nature-inspired themes (Mojave, Yosemite, Tahoe, and Ojai) that bring together available nappa leather, microsuede, open-pore wood, glass, and metal in harmony. Standard equipment is generous: 18-way heated and ventilated massaging seats with fold-out tray tables and a 34-inch 6K curved OLED Glass Cockpit display that floats across the dashboard.
The Cayenne Electric also provides an impressive driver interface, with a smaller curved OLED display and an optional passenger screen. But the overall feel is structured and technical rather than the warm and expansive, lounge-like atmosphere of the Gravity. Worth noting: the Cayenne Electric doesn't even include a sunroof as standard, whereas every Gravity includes a sweeping panoramic glass canopy that extends to every row of seating.
Performance
Powered by an 828-horsepower dual-motor setup, the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring goes to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, tops out at 155 mph, and delivers up to an EPA-estimated 450 miles of range from its 123-kWh battery.² At 108 MPGe combined, the Gravity Grand Touring uses less energy per mile than even the one-class-smaller Porsche Macan Electric when comparing EPA ratings.
The Porsche Cayenne Electric's 435-horsepower dual-motor setup does 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and tops out at 143 mph. EPA range hasn't been released, but the Cayenne Electric’s 108-kWh battery capacity is about 14 percent smaller than the Gravity Grand Touring’s. Porsche does offer the Cayenne Turbo Electric for $163,000, which produces 844 horsepower in normal driving and a staggering 1,139 horsepower on overboost. However, when comparing direct rivals, the Lucid wins in performance.
Behind the wheel, the Gravity is more than the sum of its numbers. Steering is quick and accurate with a sharp turn-in, the optional rear-axle steering improves both low-speed maneuverability and high-speed stability, and the available three-chamber air suspension delivers ride quality that feels composed over broken pavement while remaining flat in aggressive cornering. It's a genuinely surprising drive for a big SUV that seats up to seven adults.
EV Credentials
Both of these ultra-luxury SUVs run high-voltage architectures (926V for the Lucid and 800V for the Porsche), charge at up to 400 kW³, support Plug & Charge, and have native NACS charge ports for Tesla Supercharger access. Both offer built-in route planning and extensive app integration. On charging and infrastructure, these two are essentially tied.
Value
The Gravity Grand Touring starts at $98,900¹ — $10,100 less than the Porsche Cayenne Electric — despite more power, more battery capacity, more interior room, and class-exclusive standard features. Lucid also includes two years of scheduled maintenance at no extra cost.
The Gravity is an exceptional vehicle to lease, especially existing 2026 inventory. Through May 31, 2026, the 2026 Gravity Touring starts at $799/month for 36 months with $6,049 due at signing⁴, and the Grand Touring at $999/month for 36 months with $7,129 due at signing⁵. Both assume the customer qualifies for the Conquest Offer.⁶
Cayenne Electric lease terms were not available at publication, but the current Gravity offer already undercuts the official Porsche lease offer for the smaller Macan Electric, which is currently $1,049/month for 39 months with $9,999 due at signing.
Verdict
The Cayenne Electric is exactly what Porsche buyers expect: technically accomplished, beautifully built, and immediately reassuring if you're stepping out of a gas-powered Cayenne. The Gravity Grand Touring asks a different question — not "what do luxury SUV buyers expect?" but "what should a luxury SUV actually be?"
The answer is faster, more spacious, and greater value to the customer, all while delivering the kind of driving experience that makes you look for excuses to stay on the road longer. In this round of the Lucid versus Porsche rivalry, the Gravity lands the heavier punch.
